Services in 2015

 

   4. Reserved a booth to advertise about the ASL, English, and Math (AEM)

       Center for the New Student Orientation's (NSO) event on August 27 (see

       email)

   5. Led and coordinated the curriculum, teaching and learning activitie, as well        as all other academic aspects of the Math Center with the Tutorial and

       Instructional Programs (TIP), i.e. GSR 104/MAT 40 projects with math tutors.

       Searched for MAT 40/45/55 textbooks appropriate for DHH students in                   developmental mathematics courses.

   6. Collaborated with the Director of Academic Advising and TIP, the  

       Coordinator of the Writing Center, the Coordinator of the ASL Center, and

       her colleagues in the Department of Science, Technology, and Mathematics          (DSTM) to discuss and share ideas how to improve the ASL, English, and                Math (AEM) Centers (see the email)

   7. Recruited, trained, and assigned math tutors (see the Google Drive)

THE STUDENT BODY

  1. Established webpages (in Fall 2014) and updated these ongoing webpages: Math Center

    • Established Math Coaches weekly meetings in Spring 2015

    • Recruite 12 Math Coaches for the fall of 2015

  2. Created the Math Center’s individual posters of our Math Coaches for display

  3. Created the Math Center’s visual movie that includes students to do ASL in the beginning of Spring 2015  

THE ACADEMIC DEPARTMENT

  1. Helped to complete the bulletin boards in Spring 2015 (see the pictures: Careers and Spring 2015 Math/IT graduates)

  2. Became a part of the Risk Management and Insurance (RMI) Committee in March 2015 to find a new Program Director for Fall, 2015

  3. Became a mathematics academic advisor in Spring 2015

  4. Attended Jerri Lyn's developmental webinars, faculty development workshops, faculty governance events, and DSTM meetings

   5. Appointed as a GSR 104 coordinator from August 2014 to Spring 2016

  • Attended GSR 104 program meetings in Fall 2015

  • Attended GSR coordinator meetings 

  • Recruited instructors to teach GSR courses​​

  • Helped faculty members develop scheduling sessions

  • Made course copies for GSR 104 faculty members

  1. Being a moderator for the STEM Matters: A symposium in Honor of Alan Hurwitz (see Caroline Solomon’s thank you letter)

  2. Being part of ASL Gatherings Testimonials

  3. Appointed as part of the Faculty Development Committee (FDC) from August 2014 to August 2015 (Webpages updated)

    • Helped to update the FDC webpages, i.e. indents, font points, updated documents, colorful tables, broken links and so forth

    • Review proposals

THE COMMUNITY

  1. 14 Polish observers came to see me teach during the spring of 2015 (Sharon Pajka and I had a meeting with them--they asked us questions about NetSupport)

  2. Per Diane Clark's request, two Russians observers also came to watch me teach MAT 40/GSR 104 students in May 2015
